Biography

Tom is a specialist on the topics of football finance and strategy. A qualified accountant and former foreign exchange trader, in recent years he has collaborated on projects with federations, confederations, national associations, clubs, agencies and other rights holders.

Having previously forged a successful career within financial services, a sports related financial career was always Tom’s number one objective. He graduated from the University of Liverpool’s MBA in Football Industries with distinction, winning the Premier League Best Dissertation award.

Tom became the first UK based candidate ever to embark on doctorate in the research area of football finance on acceptance of a scholarship from Henley Business School’s renowned ICMA Centre at the University of Reading in September 2009. He was awarded a PhD in June 2013 for his thesis entitled “An Analysis of the Performance of Football Managers and their Impact on the Value of English Football Clubs”.

He will deliver a masterclass in club valuation models using his experience with multiple Premier League clubs including Southampton, West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle United.
