The Matching Process
The internship is not based on a one-size-fits-all placement. The FBA works with each Candidate individually to identify opportunities that make sense for their profile and objectives.

The process begins by understanding your background, skills, professional interests, career objectives and preferred areas within the football industry.

The FBA Partnerships Team explores relevant opportunities across its industry network, taking both Candidate fit and the needs of host organisations into account.

When a potential match is identified, the Candidate meets the organisation so both sides can assess whether the opportunity is the right fit.

If both sides are aligned, the internship is confirmed. If the opportunity is not the right fit, The FBA continues working towards another suitable option.
The internship opportunity is guaranteed. A specific organisation, role, department, location or level of compensation is not.

Internship opportunities are identified through the matching process. No specific organisation or type of organisation is guaranteed.

FBA Candidates have completed internships across a wide range of organisations within the global football industry.
Format & Location
Internship format and location depend on the host organisation, the role available and the outcome of the individual matching process.
Format 01
Some internships require Candidates to work directly from the organisation's offices or facilities and may involve temporary relocation for the duration of Module 3.
Format 02
Other opportunities combine in-person and remote work, depending on the organisation's working model and the responsibilities of the internship.
Format 03
Remote internships may also be available, including opportunities that allow Candidates to remain in their current country while working with an organisation elsewhere.
Location preferences can be considered during the matching process, but a specific country or city cannot be guaranteed. Candidates should be prepared for the possibility of temporary relocation.
Compensation depends on the host organisation, location and applicable local regulations. Candidates should therefore plan financially for accommodation, travel and living expenses during the three-month internship period where applicable.

An internship does not guarantee employment. Its value lies in giving Candidates relevant experience, industry exposure and professional context that can strengthen future career decisions.
Practical Considerations
A few practical considerations are worth planning for before beginning Module 3.
No. Candidates are responsible for arranging and covering their own accommodation during Module 3. Depending on the internship location and format, Candidates should also budget for travel, transport and general living expenses.
The FBA can provide relevant programme documentation and general guidance where required. However, visa and immigration requirements depend on the Candidate's nationality, country of residence and internship location, and each Candidate remains responsible for completing the appropriate visa process.
Candidates who are already working within the football industry may be able to complete Module 3 through their current organisation, provided that the role, responsibilities and learning experience meet the objectives of the internship. Any such arrangement must be reviewed and approved by The FBA in advance.
In specific circumstances, postponement may be possible. Any change to the standard Module 3 timing must be discussed and approved in advance by The FBA, taking into account programme scheduling, internship availability and completion requirements.
