After completing my Business Administration degree in my “hometown” of Ottawa in Canada, I was wondering what would come next, and to be honest I thought I was finished with my studies. I went to live in Toronto to work as an Account Manager for an Emergency Services company. Afterwards, I went for a couple of months to Brazil to live new experiences, and I absolutely loved it. Then, I went back to the Ottawa region and started to work for the University Association of Sports, where I also became a futsal coach for one of the universities. After a couple years, I was promoted to become the Sports Coordinator at a college, and at the same time, I took the responsibility in becoming a director for a small futsal team with high aspirations to evolve.

At this specific moment I wanted two things in life: to become a leader in the football industry, and to go back to Brazil. Around that time, I randomly saw an Instagram ad of “The Football Business Academy”. At first, I looked it up quickly, but didn’t pay too much attention to it. Then, I started seeing The Football Business Academy on my Facebook and Instagram more frequently. At that point, I made more adequate research about it, and immediately was extremely interested in it. At first, I thought it was too good to be true, in other words, I thought it could be a scam! But I made my research, talked to some students, some alumni, some professors, and it was actually an amazing opportunity to open doors for me in the football world. I applied, I got accepted, I accomplished the first two modules, and realized that the Stadium Operations segment is something that I started to really enjoy understanding.
Thenceforth, Covid-19 made its appearance. The pandemic created a challenge for everybody, but after being patient, The Football Business Academy made my dream come true: to go complete my internship in Brazil. The FBA and its network found me an internship with a company directly in contact with SE Palmeiras. Not only am I learning a new language, meeting new friends and enjoying the weather, but I’m also creating connections with important people of the football industry. These people have contacts and experience that, 1 year earlier, I could only dream of being in touch with.
This internship is an incredible step forward into the industry. And I have the chance to do it in the country I was dreaming about.
Right now, in Brazil, I’m working with a company called NewC. A company that helps football clubs transgress into the digital era. We are currently developing customized digital solutions for SE Palmeiras, while creating long-term relationships with their fans and sponsors. This allows us to use data intelligently to strengthen clubs commercially. Our customized digital solutions for ticketing, communication, and access control are specifically established for the needs of the club. This internship is an incredible step forward into the industry. And I have the chance to do it in the country I was dreaming about.

I’m writing this blog post after a successful day of work, where we are establishing an adequate ticket and access control system for the stadium, knowing that tomorrow morning, I’m going to the beach for the weekend. The FBA MADE EVERYTHING POSSIBLE. They will give you classmates, who will become friends and family. They will give you some ideas, be there for you, and they will never let you down.
